Double Pooling Boots
Boots used for double poling should preferably offer good stability, especially for improved control and performance on downhills, where the movement of the foot and ankle is more limited compared to other techniques.
One discussion point is often the stiffness of the sole. Some skiers prefer a very stiff sole for maximum power transfer, while others prefer a slightly more flexible sole for a more natural feel during the poling motion.
Our standpoint is that a regular skate boot works perfectly for double poling. A skate boot provides the necessary stability while also supporting a higher body position when moving up on your toes. This helps lift the upper body slightly when attacking and initiating the poling motion, allowing for a more powerful and efficient double poling technique.
