RED CREEK RILLING TOOLS
Enhance glide and feel — like the pros.
RED CREEK RILLING TOOLS let you fine-tune ski glide by adding a hand-made structure to the base — just like on the World Cup.
A stone grind gives the foundation, while hand structuring adapts the ski to specific snow conditions. The warmer and more humid the snow, the coarser the structure. In cold conditions, use a finer one. Easy to use, effective, and essential for skiers who want top performance and the perfect racing feel.

Temperature / Conditions |
Pattern |
Art. no. |
+15°C / -5°C |
Coarse Oblique cut |
RC-2069-XC |
Coarser than +15/-5 Christmas tree. To be used at temperatures around +15°C to -5°C, coarser snow, man-made snow, and wet snow. If plus degrees, press hard. Often complemented with Linear 1 mm, Linear 2 mm, and/or Linear 3 mm. If the temperature is minus degrees, apply moderate pressure. Then mostly used on the last/back part of the ski. |

+15°C / -5°C |
Christmas tree |
RC-2034-XC |
To be used at temperatures between +15 and -5°C, coarse snow, wet snow, and man-made snow can, by advantage, be complemented with Linear 1 mm or Linear 2 mm when plus degrees, normally on the last/back part of the ski. |
+5°C / -5°C |
Christmas tree |
RC-2082-XC |
To be used at temperatures between +5 and -5°C, wet snow and fine-grained snow. It may be complemented with linear structures. |
0°C / -6°C |
Oblique cut |
RC-2084-XC |
To be used at temperatures between O°C and -6°C. |
-5°C / -10°C |
Oblique cut |
RC-2086-XC |
To be used at temperatures between -5 and -10°C. Opens the hard glossy base surface. Mostly used when the snow is fine-grained. |
0°C/-10°C |
Christmas tree |
RC-2035-XC |
To be used at temperatures between 0°C and -10°C, coarse snow, man-made snow, and eventually new snow. Press harder/deeper when the conditions are warmer. |
-5°C/-15°C |
Christmas tree |
RC-2083-XC |
To be used at temperatures between -5 and -15°C. Fine Christmas tree. Opens the hard glossy base surface. Mostly used when the snow is fine-grained. |
-5°C/-20°C |
Oblique cut |
RC-2036-XC |
To be used at temperatures between -5°C and -20°C. Very fine oblique cut structure. Opens the hard glossy base surface. To be used when the snow is dry, cold, and fine-grained. |
Cold & Dry |
Ultrafine Straight |
RC-2085-XC |
To be used when the snow is “Cold & Dry”, and fine snow crystals. As well, in combination with other Red Creek Rilling tools, depending on the temperature. |
Warm |
1 mm Straight |
RC-2033-XC |
To be used in warm conditions combined with +15/-5 or Coarse. It can also be used in colder conditions, but then with less pressure. |
Wet |
2 mm Straight |
RC-2037-XC |
To be used in wet conditions, combined with +15/-5 or Coarse, also combined with Linear 1 mm. It can also be used from the middle of the ski and backwards in temperatures just below the freezing point. |
X-Wet |
3 mm Straight |
RC-2080-XC |
To be used in extremely wet conditions combined with Coarse or +15/-5 and Linear 1 mm and/or Linear 2 mm. |
Riller STOP |
For Straight rillers |
RC-2247-XC |
Prevent the Straight/linear riller from rolling and start cutting deeper into the ski base. Especially good for wet conditions. |
Soft surf |
Middle Groove / Straight |
RC-2038-XC |
To be used when loose tracks and part of tracks occur, and when snow is falling. To be used always when skating. (The tracks get looser during the race). |

RED CREEK RILLING TOOLS
Hand structuring for superior glide and race performance
RED CREEK RILLING TOOLS are designed for creating hand-made structures on all types of cross-country skis. The added structure improves both glide and overall ski feel on snow.
At the World Cup level, the machine-made stone grind is almost always complemented with a hand-applied structure for optimal performance in specific snow conditions.
The principle:
The warmer and more humid the snow, the coarser the structure should be.cIn cold, dry conditions, use a fine-grained base structure — if the machine grind is too rough, the glide will never be optimal in cold snow.
Preparation:
Begin with a well-prepared ski base featuring a fine stone grind. Apply the hand structure after waxing and brushing the ski.
Application:
Pull the rilling tool from tip to tail in the direction of the arrows. Maintain steady pressure over the structure roller — the more humid the snow, the deeper the structure, meaning you can apply slightly more pressure. After structuring, polish the base with a fine nylon brush, preferably using a roto brush.
⚠️ Do not apply structure in the grip zone.
The hand structure will disappear after the next waxing, allowing you to easily adapt to new snow conditions.
Maintenance:
Clean the structure roller from wax or residue using a RED CREEK Hand Brush (Ultra Fine Steel) or wax remover. The roller is made from stainless steel — handle it carefully to avoid damaging the fine pattern. Store in a dry place.
Summary:
A rilling tool for cross-country skis — easy to use, precise, and effective.
Enhances glide and gives your skis that true World Cup racing feel.
